Miss Squeaks The Snoring Chihuahua Ten Reason Why.

Why does my Chihuahua Snore so loud? Snoring may be a common occurrence in Chihuahuas and has nothing to do with a collapsed trachea. It is attributed to their short muzzle and generally it's loud enough to wake the house up. It isunbelievably funny when you have guests as nobody will believe that such a tiny dog can create that much noise.

Many new Chihuahua mums and dads are astonished the first time they hear the sounds of their Chihuahua enjoying a deep, luxurious sleep. No need to panic, it’s absolutely normal and characteristic of the breed. In fact, Chihuahuas additionally make snorting and grunting noises once they are playing or simply investigating a brand new smell. This is conjointly absolutely normal

10 Potential Reasons Why Your Dog Might Be Snoring:

Obstruction.

If your dog has one thing stuck in his nose or throat — whether or not it’s part of a pine cone or part of his favourite toy — it will block normal respiration and cause snoring.

Anatomy.
Certain breeds are simply more vulnerable to snoring than others. Dogs with terribly short noses — pugs, bulldogs, boston terriers — are more probably to have respiratory problems at the hours of darkness. These roundheaded breeds have shorter air passages than other dogs and need to work harder to breathe in some cases. You maystill wish to see with your vet to make positive that the condition doesn’t call for medical or surgical intervention.

Allergies/Sensitivities.
Dogs can have sensitivities and develop allergies to many of identical things we tend to do, including dirt, pollen, fragrance and different pets — all of which might cause airway constriction and snoring.

Obesity.
More than 1/2 all dogs are estimated to be overweight or fat, If you’re pup has packed on some additional pounds, extra tissue in his throat will block the airways. Or the rings in his trachea can collapse or shut once he’s asleep.

Medicine.
Some medicine, like painkillers, muscle relaxants and tranquilizers will relax your dog so much that the muscles within the throat relax and cause snoring.

Dental Issues.
An abscess or any growth or mass within the mouth or sinus are often the basis reason for snoring. Untreated, An infection will spread through a pet’s body and cause far more serious issues.

Secondhand Smoke.
Want another excuse to stop smoking? Many individuals overlook their habit as a factor in their pet’s life, Just like people, secondhand smoke can injury an animal’s respiratory system, resulting in bronchial asthma, bronchitis and snoring.

Fungal Desease.
Snoring is the results of a fungal disease called aspergillosis. The illness is triggered by mildew, usuallypicked up on grass clippings, hay, straw or dirt. The fungus can enter through the nose’s damp lining and cause symptoms like sneezing, swelling, nasal discharge and snoring.

Rhinitis.
Dogs Will get “colds” just like  us and that can cause stuffy noses. Your pet’s mucus membranes get inflamed and irritated from an infection, fungus, trauma or other cause. That may lead to symptoms that include nasal discharge, sneezing, snoring and laboured respiration.

Sleeping Position.
Just the way your dog likes to sleep will trigger snoring. Dogs that lay on their backs are more likely to snore than those who curl or sleep on their stomachs.

Miss Mildred is great at snoring sometimes it's so very loud
Other times she will make cute grunts and whizzing noises.
And then she might bark or growl when she is dreaming
I love watching her when she sleeps she appears to be so soundly asleep its like watching a baby. I remember when she was a puppy I would think she was not breathing in her sleep and constantly check on her to make sure she was. I was like a new mother with her first baby, just like I was when I had both of my sons home from the hospital. I would check her as I did them
I spent so much time with Miss Mildred as all new furbaby owners do! But I wouldn't let her out of my sight as we have other larger dogs and a swimming pool that is not fenced and even if it was she would have been able to get through it.
I became a crazy furbaby mumma, Miss Mildred would and still does go with me every where, my constant companion, But gee can this tiny chihuahua snore no matter what way she sleeps she will snore sometimes so loud she will wake herself up and that is funny to watch as well because she looks at me as if to say why did you wake me up for so very cute!

So it has come to that part of my blog where I ask you if this has been helpful or if you have enjoyed read what goes on in and around this fun household its never a dull moment,
So Miss Mildred and I Miss Squeak would love to hear about any funny snoring stories you have!

Miss Squeak Talks Apple and Deer Head Chihuahua's

Deer Head vs Apple Head Chihuahua – What’s The Difference?

Okay so today is the day we talk about this issue as it has come up  before but I never addressed it so her we go,

If you have done any research into the Chihuahua breed, you've most likely heard of deer head and apple head getting used to explain them. Breeders, veterinarians, consultants and furbaby owners often use these terms to explain specific Chihuahuas based on their physical characteristics and look. The actual fact is that most Chihuahuas will either be classified as deer head or apple head based on how they appear. So, what precisely do these unusually-sounding terms mean? Keep reading and i can reveal the variations between deer head and apple Chihuahuas and what you need to understand regarding them.
Naturally, one would possibly assume that deer head and apple head Chihuahuas are a particular breed. After all, with such a large amount of individuals referring to their Chihuahuas with these terms, logic ought to tell you that it's a certain breed. If you discuss with the American Kennel Club (AKC), United Kennel Club (UKC) or Chihuahua Club of Australia you merely will not find these varieties formally recognised. this is often a somewhat similar scenario as the term "teacup Chihuahuas," Which I have also  explained on another section of my blog. Even if individuals use the terms apple head, deer head and teacup daily to explain their Chihuahuas, the reality is that none of those are officially recognised varieties by any major canine association

Apple Head Chihuahua Characteristics and Information:

As previously expressed, no major canine associated, The Australian Kennel, recognises apple head or deer Chihuahua varieties. you can check their web site, send them an email or call them up in person if you do not believe ME. However, they do place an emphasis on the "apple" form of a Chihuahua's head because the breed standard. Both the Chihuahua Club of America and also the AKC state the breed standard's head must possess "A well rounded 'apple dome' skull, with or without molera."
If you are questioning what a molera is, let ME explain - Chihuahuas ar often born with a soft spot in their skull wherever the bone failed to properly form. Instead of  having a tough, thick bone that totally protects their brain, a Chihuahua with a molera can have a rubbery patch underneath their skin. While  it does not supply as much protection as a tough boney skull, it still offers a valuable line of defense against head injury. The exact range of Chihuahuas stricken by this condition is unknown, however some breed experts claim that up to 80th of Chihuahuas have a molar.

Here are a number of the characteristics of an apple head Chihuahua:
Short muzzle
Prominent jawline
Large, distinguished forehead
Round, apple-shaped head (with or without molar)

Deer Head Chihuahua

Deer Head Chihuahua deer Head Chihuahua Characteristics and Information
On the other side of the fence is that the deer head Chihuahua, that are equally as common as their counterpart the apple head. Because the breed standards set by the main canine associations specifically state that the top of a Chihuahua should be apple-shaped, deer head Chihuahuas are often excluded from tournaments and shows. Some folks even regard them as poor breeding thanks to their informal formed head. Do not  let that stop you from owning one, though, as they can make  terrific pets that are just as doting, mischievous and fun as apple heads.
Here are a number of the characteristics of a deer head Chihuahua:
Like the apple head, deer head Chihuahuas may be found with or without a molera.
Tend to have less health issues.
Long snout protruding further out than apple head Chihuahuas.
More slim skull that resembles the head of a deer, thence the name.
Many owners swear that deer head Chihuahuas are more manageable and less aggressive than apple heads.

Should I Purchase a Deer Head or Apple Head Chihuahua?

Whether you ought to own a deer head or apple head Chihuahua may be a choice that solely you'll make. Because of  their cute and tiny size, many of us base their decision on appearance alone. whereas there's nothing wrong with taking into account however a Chihuahua puppy appearance, you should really be focusing on their temperament and traits. Once you've found a breeder with a litter of pups, go over there one or two time to actually sit down and play with them. this may offer you an opportunity to see that Chihuahua pups are mischievous, fun, affectionate and want to be around you. I remember selecting my first Chihuahua, Miss Mildred because she was the peewee who came up to ME and would not flee. I straight off knew she was the one for me and have not regretted making that call.
Something that is necessary to notice is that apple head Chihuahuas are additional prone to health issues that plague the breed. Compared to alternative dog breeds, Chihuahuas have comparatively few health issues, however this does not mean they're going to keep 100 percent healthy their entire lives. some of the foremost common health issues related to Chihuahuas are diabetes, hypoglycaemia (low blood sugar), inflammatory disease and bone fractures To mention some. deer head Chihuahuas may still suffer from a number of these conditions, however the possibilities are lower than those of an apple head's.

Miss Squeaks How To Make Your Furbaby Laugh!

Hello everyone hope you are all well and happy, Miss Mildred and I have been having lots of fun this week as I have been playing with her lots this week while teaching her some new tricks but while I was playing with her i thought she was laughing so I started to do some research on the matter and found a very cool article and the said subject hence this little blog on show to make your dog laugh and as I am a little weird and silly I have given it a go and yes it works very well ! I found getting into the puppy play bow on all fours with my butt in the air with the breathing pattern worked a treat with my little Miss Mildred I also am going t talk bait about dreaming and furbaby smiles so let stet started !

Here are a few things I think about !
As your furbaby slumbers by your side, and starts to twitch and wiggle is she dreaming of you? Will she feel guilty concerning stealing your cut of meat off the kitchen counter and ingestion it for dinner? What is she trying to mention with that annoying bark? Does she like looking at the TV?

After decades of analysis, neuroscientists have begun to answer such queries, giving us access to the once-secret inner lives of our furbaby companions and even translating their barks and wags so mere humans can comprehend them.

At the forefront of this effort is Stanley Coren, a behaviourist from the University of British Columbia, who draws on decades of research to explore the psychological motivations behind dogs’ everyday behaviours, additionally as what science says concerning their barks, thoughts, and dreams.

Do Dogs Experience identical Emotions as People?

Dogs have identical brain structures that manufacture emotions in humans. they have identical hormones and endure identical chemical changes that humans do throughout emotional states. Dogs even have the hormone oxytocin, that in humans is attached  love and feeling. thus it looks reasonable to counsel that dogs even have emotions kind of like ours. However, it's necessary to not go overboard: The mind of a dog is roughly similar to that of a person's who is two to 2½ years old. A toddler that age clearly has emotions, however not all potential emotions, since several emerge later within the path to adulthood.

Dogs undergo their biological process stages rather more quickly than humans do, attaining their full emotional vary by the time they're four to six months recent. very similar to a person's youngster, a dog has the basic emotions: joy, fear, anger, disgust, excitement, happiness, distress, and even love. A dog doesn't have, and can not develop, a lot of complicated emotions, like guilt, pride, contempt, and shame, however.

You might argue that your dog has shown proof of feeling guilt. in the usual scenario, you come home and your dog starts slinking around and showing discomfort, and you then notice his smelly brown deposit on your bedroom floor. It's natural to conclude that the dog’s actions show a sense of guilt concerning its transgression. However, this can be merely the more basic feeling of worry. The dog has learned that when you appear and his faeces are visible on the ground, bad things happen to him. What you see is that the dog’s worry of punishment; he can never feel guilt. He will never feel shame, thus feel free to decorate him in that ridiculous party costume.

For example, a dreaming pointer could instantly begin looking for game, a sleeping spaniel could flush an imaginary bird, and a dreaming Doberman pinscher could pick a fight with a dream thief.

It is an odd undeniable fact that little dogs have additional dreams than massive dogs do. A dog as little as a poodle could dream once each ten minutes, whereas an outsized dog like a working dog or a great Dane may have regarding about hour between dreams. On the opposite hand, the large dog’s dreams last longer

Do Dogs Smile?

In the minds of the general public, the equivalent of a dog’s smiling is when he's wagging his tail. However there's truly one canine facial expression that comes near what we tend to mean by smiling in humans. During this expression, slightly opened jaws reveal the dog’s tongue covering out over his front teeth. frequently the eyes take on a teardrop form at the same time, as if being force upward slightly at the outer corners. it's an informal expression that's typically seen once the dog is relaxed, playing, or interacting socially, particularly with folks. the instant any anxiety or stress is introduced, the dog’s mouth closes and you can not see the tongue.

Dogs also are capable of laughing, and they generally do thus once they are playing. Canine laughter begins with the Furbabys equivalent of smiling but additionally includes a sound that's very similar to panting. Several years ago, animal behaviorist Patricia Simonet at Sierra nevada school by lake tahoe recorded those sounds while dogs played. On analyzing the recordings, she found that they involved a broader range of frequencies than does regular dog panting. In one experiment, Simonet noticed  that puppies romped for joy when they heard recordings of those sounds; in another, she was ready to show that these same sounds helped to calm dogs in an animal shelter.

How To Make Your Dog Laugh

Humans will imitate sounds of dog laughter, however it takes conscious watching of mouth shape to induce the sound pattern right. manufacturing dog laughter properly, says Coren, can create your dog sit up, wag his tail, approach you from across the space, and even laugh along.

Round your lips slightly to form a “hhuh” sound. Note: The sound has got to be breathy with no actual voicing, that means that if you touch your throat whereas creating this sound, you should not feel any vibration.
Use an open-mouthed smiling expression to form a “hhah” sound. Again, breathe the sound; don't voice it.
Combine steps one and two to form canine laughter. It ought to sound like “hhuh-hhah-hhuh-hhah.”

Massive In Temperament
Appearances is deceiving - actually true in life, and positively true of this little dog, whose miniature size is not any match for his or her massive personalities! filled with character, charm and distinct individuality, the reality regarding this breed is that whereas they will return up short on inches and pounds, they're not to be underestimated.
