Miss Squeaks Chihuahua Feature Chickeeta and Bella.

Welcome back to Miss Squeaks Truth about Dogs, I have been thinking of doing this for a while now, and have decided that it would be fun to do a feature chihuahua story and share other likeminded furbaby owners stories. The feature chihuahua's are my furbaby nieces and we love them so very much and enjoy having them and their Mumma Lisa come and have a play and a cuppa with us, These two wonderful chihuahua's have helped my little Miss Mildred feel more comfortable in her interaction with other dogs, we love them so very much and the friendship that Lisa and I have is just amazing. We really clicked even before we had met, and now have the pleasure of doing so many fun furbaby things together, We help run a very cool chihuahua play day, we have a true love for each other and our furbabies, so let get on and talk about how Lisa got her beautiful chihuahua's.
This story below is in Lisa's own words and the pictures have been provided by Lisa Edney.

Lisa Chickeeta and Bella
This is my story about my Chihuahua life, which I will add was the best thing that has ever happened to my life. I was in a waste of time bad relationship I got my first chihuahua Misty flipper at the age of 35.. I was sad and feeling unloved and this little chihuahua had been treated so wrongly, The first thing she done was bite me as she trusted no one.
I gave her a bath fattened her up and gave her lotsa love and she returned the love ten fold (never to bite me again) she began to be that good I could trust her to be held by other adults, I always had to watch her with children though, but she was good with my cats and my big rabbit. I had her for 3 years and she began to show me she was old and feeling worn out, so I went and got her and I a puppy named Chickeeta , My first puppy ever (yay yippee) I had catties from a wee tacker and one Labrador who was awesome that attached to my family and the owners gave him to us as he loved us all so much and was always running away from home to our house  he was 11 years and he lived till 16  (he was already well behaved and trained by someone else) Back to my wee cute puppy I signed up for puppy classes and she was my little sweetheart and Mistys too, she made Misty Flipper feel young and vibrant again for two years.

Then we lost our girl  Misty at the age of 12, My Chickeeta mourned about for her Bestie for 6 months, I could no longer watch my little girl mourn, So I looked on Gumtree and found an ad  I decided I wanted to save another Chihuahua from a not so fortunate lifestyle again. I looked at many cross breeds and I was looking like getting another dog
chi X as big as Chickeeta. I had this sweet little chihuahua named Bella I emailed about her,  but the owners would not contact me back a week went by and finally I get a email.. I booked to view her the very next morning. She was so little ribs showing back bone displayed and had been ill treated, So I had to take her, as that was my aim better life forever home with love, she was 2 and a 1/2  needed to go to the vet. I had said to Chicky when we left home If you get on with her she is coming home, well Chicky played straight away. Our new budd. We got Bellsies  paid $500 for her took her to the vet we got her needles up to date got a shine on her and her weight back up to scratch, Chicky Bella an I got out of the night mare relationship and I met the love of my life, and the girls life too, and of course my Cattie Winston they love him just as much we have our family set and their Daddy spoils them all, and they love him so. We are one big happy family and our chihuahua's life has just got better and better, the last 2 years my girls and I have been going to chihuahua play dates. This has given us a gathering mummy has fun and so do our chihuahua babies, we all come home from playdate all worn out but left with beautiful memories and smiles lotsa pics of lots of doggies playing and having fun.

Mine always feel pretty and love their dresses they wear they truly do I have some gorgeous friends with the same crazy chi hearts like mine so we are all like family. I have met my friend Helene. Whom has been a cherished  friend even before I met. Her and I look forward to the fun us two crazy Furbaby lovers have together in the future, chihuahua's love us unconditionally but being small they are like baby's on so many ways and I just love them xxxx

The picture above is Lisa and Myself at our Christmas Chihuahua day we are so much alike and are like soul sisters, I am so happy to have found you and your wonderful fubabies, Miss Mildred has learnt so much for all three of you, Love you to the moon and back!

Chihuahua Madness What We have Been Up Too.

Hello fellow furbaby lover's, its been a busy time of year for all of us around this time, lots has been going on, so I will you fill you all in on some things that we have been up to.
Lets start with the beginning for December when i had my Gordon the gallbladder removed from my body, that was a wonderful thing to have happen. And I can say Miss Mildred was a fantastic nurse while I was recovering from my operation. Not long after that about 4 days later we had a Chihuahua Christmas Party and it was great.

We had about 40 people turn up with just as many cute furbabies in toe, we had a few prizes for best dressed and a gate prize too, it was so much fun and exciting to see everyone have a fun time and I always love to meet new owners and furbabies.
Miss Mildred is now so very much more relaxed at the play days to watch her grow into this sweet active little dog is just beautiful. She can now walk around with the other furkids and play with out worrying about what I am doing. So that is a little update on how proud I am with my sweet little chihuahua Miss Mildred, we had Christmas at two houses this year so it was a very hectic day so when we finally got home we relaxed.

We had a very quite new years, but on the 2 of January we went on a rescue mission to rehome two cute sweet chihuahuas who needed a new home we went to pick up Odie a 12 yr old boy and Ruby a 5 yr old girl who we believe were a breeding pair, I so wanted to keep them both and when I got to finally meet them I feel in love with the both of them. Little Ruby was so very small the size of a can of coke and weighed about 1.2kgs  just so adorable and so very well behaved, they both went to a very loving home next door to my auntie so I am able to check up on how they are going, thats is a truly wonderful thing, and the home that they now live in has a set of twins girls and two other young girls under the age of 12 but older then 5 so it was a perfect home for them to go into, and they are getting all of their medical problems looked into as the have not been spayed and we didn't get any information on the needles or worming that is now all happening so we are very happy about that too, so I will show some pictures of them in their new home.

This is how the furbabies sat when we were on the way to their new home. Both Odie and Ruby are just so sweet and loving and I can't wait to give you all some more updates on these to cuties.

Miss Mildred has been swimming at her Grandma's and Poppy's this week with all her fur siblings and working on her tan. We have had a wonderful start to our year and hope you all have too. My family had a birthday party for me as i have turned 37 this month and gee its no different then before, haha

We hope you have enjoyed our little update on what has been happening in our world,
We would love to know what you have all been up too as well so leave it in the comments,

Miss Squeaks Fun Christmas Ideas For Your Furbaby!

Okay lets talk Christmas, and our furbabys now its my first Christmas with Miss Mildred and gee I can't wait to get her new dresses from Ebay that we ordered I know I am excited to get them she has a few coming and I have a red and white one picked out for her to wear for the big day! Its so very cute a frilly just like the pretty princess that she is aww I mustn't be the only one who is excited about Christmas even Sir George has a outfit a little green elf costume that he looks so fantastic in and yes I will post pictures of them in their Christmas digs, Because I know you will want to see them haha! But i thought of a few ideas that you might like to do with your furbabys this Christmas! And we'll  get straight to it now.

If you're  like me , you think about your dog a part of your family. Then Christmas  is simply another occasion to solidify that relationship and embrace your dogs in all of the season’s commotion. Should you not break down before Christmas Eve, here are some gifts and activities that might make this Christmas extra, exceptional for you and your dog.

1. Get your dog a stocking.

That is, if they do not have one already. If this is your dog’s 1st Christmas with you, this can be a extremely nice way to commemorate your 1st of the many Christmas holidays together and solidify his or her place in your home.

There are 2 choices for this small activity. you could run out to your local Target or Kmart Red Dot or BigW and find a cute little stocking with their initial on it. That’s fast, easy, and totally counts. Or, if you have got a while to do a small homemade project, create one! Decorating a stocking that matches your dog’s temperament is something fun to do while you and your dog are sharing time watching crummy Christmas movies over a chewy bone and some wine/punch.

2. Lend a homeless dog a hand.

If your dog is dog friendly, this feature may be for you. wherever I spend the holidays, many shelters and rescues would love nothing more than to get their dogs out of their facilities or boarding to get a much-needed night in a home. Just  a day or 2 in a nice, warm home goes a long way towards helping out  a dog who is not as lucky as your own dog. Run a rescue or work with a shelter? Contemplate making a short-run fostering program for the holidays.

3. Take fun photos.

Earlier this season, one amongst my dogs gave up the ghost. Not to  get momentarily morbid, however having a lot of photos of him has positively helped Me and my family grieve. The Holidays are the simplest time to form those recollections and capture them so you mostly have a token of happy, silly, spirited times.

In my house, we’ve invested in jingle bell collars. The collars look laughably goofy on my  furbabys and create a lot of noise, however in a photo it’s too cute for words so worthwhile.

4.Participate in a very special activity together.

December is one in all the few months where everyone probably gets a while off of work. To make up for all those busy days throughout the year when your pup waited with patience for you to get home, do something exceptional together that you just might not get to try to to the remainder of the year. We are thinking of taking our furbabys to the beach Yay they'll like it.
Less-intensive activities are even as special. It could also be  a special trip to a doggy playground, or a walk on a brand new path you don’t take each day. This is just one nice way to show your dog how much he or she means to you and may make the holidays even more special for each of you.

Once again I would like to thank you all for coming and reading all of my blogs this is truly a passion for me and I enjoy doing the blog posts its fun and gets my brain moving in and on the right path but if we ever seem to be talking about the same stuff and you get bored just leave a comment below on what you might like Miss Mildred and I to talk about! We would love to keep everyone happy and up to date with whats going on with us over here in Perth Western Australia!

Miss Squeak And Miss Mildred Are Back Blogging.

Hello and welcome to my blog Miss Squeaks Truth About Dogs.
After a little holiday away from blogging Miss Mildred and I
Miss Squeak are getting back on the blogging wagon, and today I would love to let you all know, that over the last few week while we have been away.

Some very cool things have happened like we had a Chihuahua play day for our Western Australian Chihuahua Lovers Facebook group and it was amazing, I was very excited and scared at the same time, because when you create a event you worry that no one will turn up. But I should not have been worried as we had over 40 chihuahua furbabies and owners at our chihuahua big day out, it was a wonderful day.

So much that we are having a Christmas Chihuahua Party on the 11th of December yay!
We are very excited about our up coming chihuahua party,
and I will blogging about it soon, In other news I have started a little video series about what I have for my little girl and what I use for her, my first video I talk about my nail clippers and her collars that I use with bells on them so I can hear where she is around house, But in the next few videos I will talk about my favourite dresses, harnesses, shoes this is a very good chance for you to have a look into my crazy chihuahua madness.

I love my little polly princess so very much and she is my constant shadow, I feel like I am the luckiest furbaby mumma as I have a wonderful sweet loving little chihuahua, she makes my days brighter and everyday is easier when you have furbabies in your life to make you smile and laugh.

We are so happy to have Miss Mildred and Sir George Wobble, and are grateful that we found them so they are able to spend their lives with us. We also took the firkins to the vet for the yearly health check and needle, we took 5 furbabies to the vet and gee that was fun, but they all behaved so very well and as they were in their pack they were all balanced and helped each other with the stressfulness that a vet visit brings. All furbabies had a check up needles and got a good bill of health, but Miss Mildred has to have one of her baby teeth removed as it hasn't fallen out, so that is a little scary, but I don't want her to get sick or have any other problems due to her baby tooth so its coming out.

I am so happy to be blogging again as it is a passion of mine and if I can help other owners with my tips and tricks then that is even better, in my next blog I am going to be back to giving information and helpful tips for all of my wonderful readers, I really just wanted to check in and let you all know why and what we have been up too, like always Miss Mildred and I would love to hear about what you all have been up to over the last few weeks, so let us know in the comments below, and checkout the video and let me know what you think as it can be hard to put yourself out into the world and I guess we all get a little worried people might not get what your talking about but oh well you get that and I have a few other videos to get up and have the world look at them haha, So on that note I hope you all have a wonderful week and we send happiness, laughter, love and joy to you and your furbabies!

So until the next blog kiss and hug your furbabies and family, and let us know what you might like us to blog about,

Miss Squeak Talks All Things New With Miss Mildred.

So lots of new things have been going on in our sweet little nest, Monster and I Miss Squeak went off to Bali, a few weeks ago for ten nights and we left our furkids Miss Mildred and her fur brother Sir George with my big brother and son while we were away, so they got to have a holiday too. with the other dogs in our pack, it doesn't get any easier to leave them even when we FaceTime them too see how they are going, and they come running when they hear our voices its just to cute, and makes it a little easier to go on with the holiday.

While over in the land of smiles we went to a wonderful shop called PawzBali and wow what a fantastic shop, you can find really cute outfits and even have your furkids groomed or looked after in the upstairs boarding rooms, the owners were just lovely as well as the staff, we got the furbabies some new outfits for summer, and I can't wait to dress them in their new clothes hats and bows.
I will post the link below. Because I believe this is a must see shop if your in Kuta her is what i got the furkids.

Our two wonderful furry babies came to the airport to pick us up and gee this time
Miss Mildred was very excited to see us, I was shocked a last time she gave me the cold shoulder for a week, but as she is getting older she is also growing in her development, just after we got home we went to our Chihuahua play day where for the first time Miss Mildred was able to walk around with her tail high and she was confident enough to play and respond to commands yay.
This was a very big step for her as she is so shy and timid, also we had our lovely friend Lisa come over with her two Chihuahuas over to play and this intern has help Miss Mildred come out of her shell even more, I am super proud of Miss Mildred as I thought she might just stay shy and timid, but with every Chihuahua play day she has gotten better, so to all the other mums and dads of shy timid furbabies just keep up positive reinforcement and I am sure you will see the same results as I have with Miss Mildred,

In our next big news! We finally got to meet the newest member of our pack little Soso she is my mamma's Chihuahua x Poodle and aww she is so very cute and fluffy she has been coming over every second day to play with Miss Mildred and Sir George so we can have a pack that all loves each other and knows their place in the pack,
Miss Mildred warmed up to her within a few meetings and now they play tug and fetch together  and we are starting to command train her for my mumma, I will keep you posted with updates. and new pictures, as I had a few weeks off from blogging as I wasn't very well and when I am under the weather I can't blog as its my eyes that are the problem, Yet they are letting me get back to my blogging yay! I really enjoy doing this and helping out other furbaby mums and dads.

So until my next blog stay safe and keep your furbabys close hug and kiss then for Miss Mildred and myself Miss Squeak, we hope to see you soon! Thanks so much for reading my little update on all the things that are new with us.

Miss Squeaks Common Chihuahua Health Issues.

Hello everyone Miss Mildred and myself Miss Squeak
have had a little break from blogging over the last few weeks as I have been having problems with my eye sight and not
being able to use my computer nor iPad it has been very hard not be able to blog as I really enjoy talking about things that are going on in the day to day life of Miss Mildred and myself so in the next few weeks I will be going in to have my back drained of the excess fluid that backs up behind my eyes and creates problems with my eyesight as the pressure from the fluid causes my optic nerves to swell, therefore causing the buildup of pressure and my eyes have a party with their own rave pulsing in my head and can't handle light or the sunlight so I have been in my cocoon as I call it not knowing when I will be able to blog again , After lots of painkillers I am sitting here typing and gee I am enjoying this as I love to talk about  furbaby tips and tricks to help you all with  your babies , So lets get started with some common Chihuahua health issues.

 Some Common Issues
While Chihuahuas have fewer genetic defects than other  breeds (maybe as a result of such a big amount of breeders attempting laborious to eliminate problems), no breed is perfect. The subsequent sections below will show you some idiosyncrasies — some serious however most not — that are typically seen in Chihuahuas and different Toy breeds.

Subluxation of the patella
In dog lingo, subluxation of the patella is named slipped stifles or loose kneecaps. once it happens, the kneecap (we're talking about the rear legs) slips out of its groove — sometimes often and generally seldom — depending on the severity of the matter. If your dog is one of the unfortunate few whose kneecaps slip often, surgery is also the answer. A dog with a light case will live a standard life, kind of like a person with a trick knee. Subluxation of the patella could be a relatively common drawback in tiny breeds and a few massive ones as well.

Hypoglycemia
Hypoglycemia suggests that low blood glucose and could be a common drawback in young Toy breed puppies, though most of them grow out of it before they're old enough to depart the breeder. But for some, it is a danger throughout their lives.

Symptoms of low blood glucose are a staggering gait, glassy eyes, and generally either softness or rigidity. If the dog does not receive immediate help, he will suffer seizures, unconsciousness, and eventually, death. Treatment involves putting some sugar in your dog's mouth, calling  your Furbabys Doctor, and heading for the clinic. Once you recognize your dog has a tendency toward hypoglycaemia, you'll prevent more attacks by changing his feeding schedule to tiny amounts many times daily and avoiding sweetened treats (check the ingredients before getting the  dog treats). An excessive amount of sugar in his food will place Pepe on a roller coaster ride of sugar highs and lows instead of keeping his blood glucose nice and level.

If you get your Chi accustomed taking delicious liquid from an eyedropper, administering liquid medication becomes a cinch. Sometimes melt a teaspoon of vanilla frozen dessert, place it in an eyedropper and give it to her just as if it had been medication.

Collapsing trachea
Collapsing trachea could be a drawback for Toy dogs of many breeds. The symptoms embody coughing, shortness of breath, and exhaustion. although it appears more typically in dogs older than five years, an occasional puppy has it from birth. To grasp the condition, think about the trachea as a straw manufactured from cartilage that carries air from the neck to the chest. once the cartilage collapses, breathing becomes troublesome, quite like sipping soda through a flattened straw.

Your vet will treat the condition with medication, however if you smoke, your Chi's prognosis is also poor. Secondhand smoke is a proven contributing issue to the problem . . . and smoke tends to settle low, wherever a little dog's nose is. My very little Miss Mildred has this condition and it's conjointly known as the reverse sneeze after I detected Miss Mildred create this noise for the first time i was so afraid and frighten i assumed  she was going to die and she was only home a day of so once this happened.

Heart murmur
Heart murmurs are relatively uncommon in Chihuahuas and even those that have one usually have the functional kind. As in folks, which means they will be as active and athletic as they want and live long, traditional lives.

Molera
The Chihuahua's molera(a.k.a. fontanel) is considered a breed characteristic and not a defect. Most Chihuahuas (80 percent to 90 percent) have a molera — a soft spot on the top of their head kind of like a human baby's soft spot. However in contrast to babies, most Chihuahuas do not outgrow it. though it always shrinks because the dog matures and finally ends up between nickel- and dime-sized, your furbaby's molera will not be a problem as long as you are gentle once fondling or handling her head.

In rare cases, the molera remains quite massive and might be a symbol of a significant problem referred to as abnormality (see subsequent section). however don't borrow trouble. hydrocephalus has many alternative signs besides a larger-than-usual molera.

Hydrocephalus
A dog with hydrocephalus (a.k.a. water on the brain) could have a bizarrely massive head for his size caused by swelling. other signs of this fatal condition are frequent falling, seizures, lots of white showing within the eyes, an unsteady gait, and east-west eyes (the opposite of crossed eyes). A dog with hydrocephalus is in pain and will not live long, therefore euthanasia is the humane resolution. (Euthanasia is the medical term for a humane, vet-assisted death.)

Going under anesthesia
The possibility that your dog could someday need anesthesia is one main reason why you would like to choose a Furbaby Doctor who is accomplished in treating Toy dogs. although anesthesia-related deaths are rare, and typically the results of an allergic reaction, its use is potentially dangerous. Your vet uses anesthesia only if necessary (before surgery, for example).

Be sure you recognise the way to clean your furbaby's teeth properly in order that cleansing them under anesthesia is not necessary. once your dog has to go under anesthesia (during spaying or fixing, for example), ask your Furbaby Doctor if any necessary dental work (such as pulling impacted baby teeth) will be done at the same time.

Be sure your vet uses one of the modern gas anesthetics. they're much safer than the old fashioned intravenous product.

Watch those eyes
It's certainly not a condition, but because Chihuahuas have massive eyes and live near the ground, they're additional susceptible to eye injuries than a lot of alternative breeds. Place several drops of saline solution in your dog's eye if the injury appears minor. that's usually all it takes to flush out a remote object that was accidentally kicked up by someone's shoe. If that does not relieve the matter, or if the injury seems additional serious, take your Furbaby to the vet.

I really hope this blog has helped you with any of your concerns regarding your little furbaby chihuahua.
Miss Mildred has been sitting on my lap while I have been
typing this blog as I mentioned before I have been unwell with my inter cranial hypertension and she has been looking after her mumma very well I believe our furbabys know when we are unwell and they comfort us in the only way they know with love licks and kisses. Miss Mildred and my amazing Monster are the most wonderful caring loving sweet and affectionate people in my life I am so lucky to have them both in my life so until my next blog stay safe and remember to smile. If you have anything you might like me to write about don't hesitate to let me know in the comments below as I would love to have a challenge or project to research ,

Have a wonderful week !

Miss Squeak Talks Are Chihuahua's Easy To Train?

Miss Mildred had her first dress waiting for when she came home, it was a light black and white cheese cloth dress and she looked so very cute in it and she never even worried about having it on and that is where the dressing up started,

I also wanted her to wear shoes to protect her paws from the hot ground in summer so we started with a little pair of yellow sandles.
At first she was a bit unsure of them as
they were a somewhat too big but I would just
put them on her for five minutes at a time then take them off just so she would learn that they were okay to wear and I would also treat her with chicken so it was a positive
experience for her.
And now she has gumboots, uggboots and sandles  and she loves wearing them all.
Now she won't go outside on cold or wet ground without her shoes!

Now what else have I done to train my sweet little chihuahua! I have taught Miss Mildred to stop barking once she has let me know someone is at the door. Now this was a challenge for her and it was very hard to redirect her energy so we started very slowly and got other people in the house to knock at the door and as soon as she would start barking I would say "who is there" and then say on your mat and we have done this every time someone was at the door and now its like

Miss Mildred has a job and we only have to say the command words and it now stops! But this did take a long time to get this result, so be understanding when trying to train your little furbaby! I wish you luck.

Here are some more helpful tips and tricks to get you on your way. Miss Mildred and I Miss Squeak hope it is helpful in getting your furbaby to do some of the things your are wanting them to do!
So let get the training tips and tricks started.

Are Chihuahuas easy to train?

It depends on what you wish to train them to try and do. Potty training a Chihuahua may be terribly troublesome – if truth be told, Chihuahuas are one in all the most troublesome breeds to educate.
Training a Chihuahua to not bark sharply at each little thing she sees or hears are often tough – this breed is very alert and observant  fast to notice something that appears "different".

Training Chihuahuas to be friendly (or at least accepting) of strangers and strange dogs can be tough – someChihuahuas are naturally friendly, however most are at least reserved, while several are downright suspicious.

But training Chihuahuas to fit well into your home, listen to you, and be well-behaved is not difficult in any respect....provided you insist that they do so right from day one. Chihuahuas, you see, can obey you while still maintaining their laughable and amusing temperament.

Owners who wish to spoil their Chihuahua by treating him like a very little baby and permitting him to do whatever he desires typically end up with a Chihuahua who is excitable, nervous, too dependent, or downright nasty. These Furbaby owners provide our breed a nasty name. Chihuahuas don't need to end up like this.
It's all up to you!

"How simple is it
to  train Chihuahuas?" my answer is, "Housebreaking, barking, and socialization are often a challenge, however getting them to pay attention to you is not difficult. However a lot depends on the temperament and personality of the individual furbaby, plus your own dog training skills."

Here are some coaching tips for training Chihuahua puppies and adult dogs:

Teach your Chihuahua the way to be alone. That sounds odd, I know. However several Chihuahuas are excessively dependent and have a tendency to bark and chew things up when they are lonely. So you don't want to leave your Chihuahua alone for an excessive amount of (more than four hours each day is simply too much). However you do need to leave him alone sometimes so he does not become so addicted to you that he cannot stay alone without pitching a fit or becoming fretful, a behavioural issue referred to as "separation anxiety." So you should not stay with your Chihuahua all the time, or cuddle with him all the time. Instead, you need to coach him to be independent, to stand on his own four paws and find things to do on his own.

Teach the correct words to your Chihuahua.

This technique of training Chihuahuas includes teaching specific words in specific ways so your dog not only learns the words but conjointly develops the respectful attitude that makes him happy to obey you. You may need to work particularly hard on "Quiet" (because Chihuahuas are often hyper-alert and therefore noisy). "Enough" is a vital word for your Chihuahua to learn. Chihuahuas typically demand attention and too-frequent smooching. This is notpsychologically healthy for your dog because it will cause separation anxiety once you are not around.

Start toilet training quickly.

But expect it to take several months before your Chihuahua's miniaturised internal organs are robust enough for reliable control. Throughout these several months, your Chihuahua must not be loosed within the house. Its really easy for them to sneak behind a chair or underneath a small table, and it takes only a couple of seconds for the deed to be done. The results can be hard to see and when you don't see it, you don't correct it – and so the unhealthy habit becomes established. If you reside in a very cold or rainy climate, toilet training may be particularly hard, becauseChihuahuas hate both the cold and also the rain. A lined potty space is strongly suggested. Generally a bow-wowdoor is critical therefore your Chihuahua can run outside the instant he feels the urge.

Socialise your Chihuahua puppy with strangers and different dogs.

Chihuahuas can be unapproachable, and if you do not teach them ahead of time to be friendly and trusting toward folks they don't recognize, their natural caution will become nervousness or mistrust, which are not any fun to livewith. Similarly, you need to teach your Chihuahua puppy to be calm and accepting toward different dogs. ManyChihuahuas can put on a show of excited savageness ("pitching a fit") once they see a wierd dog, particularly an oversized one. It sounds funny, however if you don't curtail it firmly, your Chihuahua might end up really aggressive, which is probably going to get him killed by a bigger dog.

What You Need to Know

A Chihuahua's temperament is unique in many ways. First, the dog will be absolutely pleased just enjoying all of its time with you. As companion dogs, Chihuahuas are carefully bred to be connected at the hip to their owner wherever they go. Even so, that attachment can also lead to dominant behaviors and when these dogs are not properly socialized with other dogs and people, there are several aggression issues:

  • they behave larger than they appear, which while very adorable and sometimes even entertaining, can be quite dangerous if your dog is not trained properly
  • can be standoffish with strangers
  • can get aggressive toward other dogs
  • snappy with children
  • overly jumpy to noises outside.

Fortunately all of these behaviours can be controlled with good, early training

The Best Way to Train a Chihuahua
First thing you have to do when training a Chihuahua is to take control of the household. Contrary to popular belief, that adorable little dog thinks he looks after the house and will do whatever he needs to do to show you that is true, if you let him. Here are some important basics when training a Chihuahua:

1. You must establish limitations and be the leader of the pack.

2. Feeding Times - feed your Chihuahua at set intervals. Never let the dog determine when it wants to eat. This seems trivial, but it shows the dog who makes the decisions in the household, and that he needs to conform.

3. Walking - walk your Chihuahua two times a day or more, but be sure to control the walk. Do not let the dog pull or dictate the direction you are going to go. When training a Chihuahua, leash control is vital.

4. Bouncing and Furnishings - With a tiny dog like a Chihuahua, you can easily let the dog get up on furniture whenever it wants. However, control of your space is important to imposing limitations. Never respond to barking or whining and set restrictions on what furnishings the dog is allowed.

5. Entering and Exiting - overlook your dog when you come and go from the house. Only take notice of the Chihuahua when it reaches a calm, relaxed state.
To truly educate a Chihuahua, you need to be the alpha leader, or the dog will always feel he is in charge.

Improving Mental Stimulation
A Chihuahua can be worn-out quickly enough, but the majority of these dogs still do not get enough exercise or emotional stimulation. How many people play fetch or go to dog parks with a little dog like that? Coach your Chihuahua with basic commands like sit and stay, speak and quiet, fetch, and anything else you like.

With regards to learning the best way to educate a Chihuahua, reducing the chances for the dog to challenge you and to be overwhelmed with energy and boredom will remove much of the bad personality issues that most of us have with regards to their rambunctious nature.

Like any furbaby, the Chihuahua can be trained; it just takes a lot of patience and creativity on the part of the owner, when teaching the dog. The owner must also understand the temperament of a Chihuahua in order to successfully teach the dog the basic commands and various tricks.

Chihuahuas may be petite dogs, but they actually have a big, strong character. In fact, Chihuahuas have the ability to control a home and its master which is the reason proper training it is very important. When you teach this dog, it helps to ensure his training in obeying you instead of manipulating you around to what he wants. Another benefit of dog training is that you strengthen your bond with your pet; thereby, ensuring his loyalty to you as long as he lives.

Chihuahuas are intelligent, energetic and lively in nature. They love physical activities and those that stimulate their brain. Since training involves both of these elements, Chihuahuas warmly embrace it given the proper handling and encouragement. Of course, rewards and constant praise should never be forgotten because they are crucial in enticing these headstrong canines to do the things you want them to do.

What to Teach Your Chihuahua
When training Chihuahuas, owners should keep in mind that patience is absolutely essential. Avoid training when you're tired or angry. Take it just one step at a time and be sure to keep your treats ready before you start your lessons. In the home, it's important that the Chihuahua is potty trained at an early stage.

The basic commands should not be ignored.

down,stay,come,heel,roll,over,sit

You can put your dog on a table while teaching these commands as it can be tiring if you have to bend all the time.
Crate training is also recommended. This should teach them the right place to poop in the house. See to it that you bring the puppy to the box after eating, waking up or whenever you see him circling. You can use newspapers as well, but be sure to change the used ones.

How to Handle Your Chihuahua

The number one rule in handling Chihuahuas is to always be gentle with them. Remember not to use choke collars on a Chihuahua as their necks can easily get hurt. A good option is to use the flat buckle collar or harness to protect its trachea.

Exercise should be a priority and if possible, it must be done on a daily basis. However, it may not need long walks as this breed is already energetic in nature so running around an apartment is usually enough exercise for the dog.

If you want to take your small dog for a walk during cold weather, be sure to let him wear a sweater as toy breeds are usually very sensitive to cold temperatures. Avoid taking your Chihuahua out when the temperature is to cold. Never allow your Chihuahua to jump from a high place as he might hurt his joints due to the landing impact. Joint disorders and fractures are among the common problems of this breed therefore you need to be careful while handling your furbaby.
