Miss Squeaks Chihuahua Feature Chickeeta and Bella.

Welcome back to Miss Squeaks Truth about Dogs, I have been thinking of doing this for a while now, and have decided that it would be fun to do a feature chihuahua story and share other likeminded furbaby owners stories. The feature chihuahua's are my furbaby nieces and we love them so very much and enjoy having them and their Mumma Lisa come and have a play and a cuppa with us, These two wonderful chihuahua's have helped my little Miss Mildred feel more comfortable in her interaction with other dogs, we love them so very much and the friendship that Lisa and I have is just amazing. We really clicked even before we had met, and now have the pleasure of doing so many fun furbaby things together, We help run a very cool chihuahua play day, we have a true love for each other and our furbabies, so let get on and talk about how Lisa got her beautiful chihuahua's.
This story below is in Lisa's own words and the pictures have been provided by Lisa Edney.

Lisa Chickeeta and Bella
This is my story about my Chihuahua life, which I will add was the best thing that has ever happened to my life. I was in a waste of time bad relationship I got my first chihuahua Misty flipper at the age of 35.. I was sad and feeling unloved and this little chihuahua had been treated so wrongly, The first thing she done was bite me as she trusted no one.
I gave her a bath fattened her up and gave her lotsa love and she returned the love ten fold (never to bite me again) she began to be that good I could trust her to be held by other adults, I always had to watch her with children though, but she was good with my cats and my big rabbit. I had her for 3 years and she began to show me she was old and feeling worn out, so I went and got her and I a puppy named Chickeeta , My first puppy ever (yay yippee) I had catties from a wee tacker and one Labrador who was awesome that attached to my family and the owners gave him to us as he loved us all so much and was always running away from home to our house  he was 11 years and he lived till 16  (he was already well behaved and trained by someone else) Back to my wee cute puppy I signed up for puppy classes and she was my little sweetheart and Mistys too, she made Misty Flipper feel young and vibrant again for two years.

Then we lost our girl  Misty at the age of 12, My Chickeeta mourned about for her Bestie for 6 months, I could no longer watch my little girl mourn, So I looked on Gumtree and found an ad  I decided I wanted to save another Chihuahua from a not so fortunate lifestyle again. I looked at many cross breeds and I was looking like getting another dog
chi X as big as Chickeeta. I had this sweet little chihuahua named Bella I emailed about her,  but the owners would not contact me back a week went by and finally I get a email.. I booked to view her the very next morning. She was so little ribs showing back bone displayed and had been ill treated, So I had to take her, as that was my aim better life forever home with love, she was 2 and a 1/2  needed to go to the vet. I had said to Chicky when we left home If you get on with her she is coming home, well Chicky played straight away. Our new budd. We got Bellsies  paid $500 for her took her to the vet we got her needles up to date got a shine on her and her weight back up to scratch, Chicky Bella an I got out of the night mare relationship and I met the love of my life, and the girls life too, and of course my Cattie Winston they love him just as much we have our family set and their Daddy spoils them all, and they love him so. We are one big happy family and our chihuahua's life has just got better and better, the last 2 years my girls and I have been going to chihuahua play dates. This has given us a gathering mummy has fun and so do our chihuahua babies, we all come home from playdate all worn out but left with beautiful memories and smiles lotsa pics of lots of doggies playing and having fun.

Mine always feel pretty and love their dresses they wear they truly do I have some gorgeous friends with the same crazy chi hearts like mine so we are all like family. I have met my friend Helene. Whom has been a cherished  friend even before I met. Her and I look forward to the fun us two crazy Furbaby lovers have together in the future, chihuahua's love us unconditionally but being small they are like baby's on so many ways and I just love them xxxx

The picture above is Lisa and Myself at our Christmas Chihuahua day we are so much alike and are like soul sisters, I am so happy to have found you and your wonderful fubabies, Miss Mildred has learnt so much for all three of you, Love you to the moon and back!

19th of February, and its is also my youngest sons 18th birthday wow time flies when your having fun, so I will do another Chihuahua Play Day blog   and share all the cute furbabies and  their wonderful owners, Oh on the Miss Mildred tooth issue she went to the vet and had her baby canine removed, as it just didn't fall out so that was exciting for her. We were able to keep her tiny little tooth and the tooth fairy came and left her some new sweet summer dresses, but in reality the tooth fairy should have gave her new winter jackets as we are having a very strange summer with lots of rain and stormy weather, we are normally in the swimming pool everyday from December to March and some years mid
April, but this year we have not really been in the pool for the last few weeks, as its just been to cold, haha yup Australian Summer to cold, oh well   thats what has been happening in our neck of the wood over the last few weeks, Miss Mildred and I would love to hear what you have been up to so let us know in the comments below.

Miss Squeak Talks About Miss Mildred The Chihuahua and All Her Outfits!

So today I thought I would talk about Miss Mildred and the amount of outfits she has, Is it just me or are there others that dress their furbabys up? As you all might know Miss Mildred is a chihuahua and she is 2yrs old in September and she is my little shadow, best friend and my favourite way to waste time, She makes me laugh and giggle everyday she looks after me when I am not well. She is truly my protecter nurse and the class clown,
Miss Mildred is just so amazing.

I have dressed her since she was a puppy. We got Miss Mildred in November 2014 and she was 4mths old and so very tiny like many chihuahua she was so fragile and I just wanted to protect her.
In the picture above she was in her very  first dress and it was Summer here in Perth Western Australia so little sun dresses were just perfect for getting Miss Mildred used to wearing dresses,
I also wanted her to be ready to wear coats for winter because she is so small and fragile I didn't want her to be cold,
My little girl wears some sort of clothing everyday and when she is naked after her bath she will go and stand in the wardrobe and bark at her clothes so I think she enjoys wearing them as much as I enjoy dressing her.

I have so many outfits with matching shoes and collars and her clothes hang up on cute little pink hangers and she is starting to have more then me and that might be starting to become a problem!  I love looking for new cute jackets,  jumpers, shirts and  dresses along with collars and necklaces we need a whole room just for her stuff not to mention the leads and harness.
Below is a snap shot of some of the things she has gee whizz.
I think she is just a little spoilt!

Today Miss Mildred has on the animal print mink coat with satin red lining just so fancy and she looks so cute.
Its very cold at the moment and I don't want Miss Mildred to be cold she I get her dressed each morning in something that will keep her warm and toasty and because she doesn't like walking on the cold or we  floor she get her shoes put on for outside and it is not mean or cruel to do so as if she has no shoes on my little princess will wee on the floor so shoes it is. Do any of you dress or  put shoes on your furbabys? I can't be the only one can I ??
I would love to hear about what you do to keep your furbabys warm and toasty!

So as I said before today was just a quick little blog about the things I do to keep my little Chihuahua happy and comfy.
I would like to thank  everyone that comes and has a little  read or a look at my pictures of Miss Mildred, I really enjoy doing this and your feed back is just lovely !!

What specifically are Merle chihuahuas?

Merle chihuahuas are said to be the newest ‘style’ or ‘designer colour’ to gain popularity among chihuahua breeding throughout the past fifteen years, however because of potential health issues, merle chihuahuas are seldom mentioned in credible books about genetic colouring patterns of the breed.  Chocolate and long haired merle chihuahuas also are a rare find, therefore making them more fascinating to people that are more concerned about creating a ‘fashion’ statement.

How does merle breeding work?

The merle gene can change the pigmentation of their base color causing them to possess a lighter coloured spots throughout their coat.  Merles will produce very intriguing and distinctive colored chihuahuas and from time to time can often have blue eyes.  The merle gene is also a dominant gene. This suggests that one parent should be a merle for the gene to be passed on to their offspring. Therefore the gene won't remain dormant for several years then suddenly surface.

Are merle chihuahuas more vulnerable to health issues than other chihuahuas?

The most controversial  and debatable issue with merle chihuahuas is if there exists an increase in potential health issues.  if a breeder doesn't breed responsibly, then there undoubtedly exists an magnified health risk with merle chihuahuas, however if a breeder breeds responsibly and is credible, merle chihuahuas are generally happy and healthy similar to all other chihuahuas.

A breeder doesn't breed responsibly if they mate two purebred merles together, where each parents are merles.  By doing so that they suppose they're strengthening the merle color, however in actual truth they're making a recipe for disaster because the double merle gene will produce chihuahuas with serious health defects that include visual defect, hearing impairment and even severe deformities.

Are there any other health issues in merle chihuahuas?

Sometimes merle chihuahuas are sensitive to daylight when they have the blue eye color, therefore it’s necessary to keep this in mind when outdoors on those bright and sunny days.

So what will all this mean?

Merle chihuahuas are even as cherubic as other chihuahuas. Its  unaccountable breeding practices that cause major health issues in merle chihuahuas. Therefore do your research and make queries if you're considering obtaining a merle chihuahua.  Don’t be afraid to research the breeder.  We’d additionally suggest that you simply think about rescuing or adopting a chihuahua from a shelter because those are the chihuahuas that require you the most!

Okay so thats a little about the Merle Chihuahua. Miss Mildred and I hope you enjoyed our blog on this subject I really love doing this kind of information blog as while I am  doing my research I learn so much more every time I do so. We would love some ideas on other blogs to do as that would be fantastic.

Miss Squeaks Update on Miss Mildred

Okay today I am just going to do a update on little Miss Mildred as a few things have changed, We have moved and she knows the house very well and is normally very good.
But lately she has started to poo in the house and gee it's not that big of a problem but it's still annoying lucky she is cute and her poos are small so I just pick them up and flush them away in to the dark unknown! So I have started to do the alarm training again so every hour we go outside and I place her on the toilet and say go wee wee or go poo poo she will wee no problems but getting her to poo on command is a little difficult. She like to poo near the spa now yes its outside but not on the toilet baby steps and least she is not pooping in the house yay that's I small victory to say the least. I was thing it's because of her furbrother
Sir George and it smells like him so I am going to get her a toilet of her own and put it near the spa as that's where she is going to the toilet at the moment. Chihuahuas are a hard breed to potty train anyway and I thought I was out of the woods but we have been given a curve ball and we are dealing with it. She is so smart and picks up new tricks very easily so I am thinking we will so have this in the past. The key is not to get angry as its really not her fault. Did any of you have this problem? As I think it is a common problem with most dogs when they are used to a regular routine. Many changes have happened like now
Miss Mildred and Sir George sleep out the back not in the cold we have a games room where we spend most of our time so they have a aircon beds toys and access to outside if they wish to go out there. We decided to do this as Miss Mildred was barking at midnight and then again at thee in the morning just to go and get a drink of water or because she could her the kids gaming in the bedroom next door it was like having a toddler again we went through this for a month and because my Monster works twelve hour shifts it was becoming a problem with broken sleep for me. I just wasn't having a restful sleep and I was getting grumpy. I felt so bad for making the furbabys sleep in the back room. What I forgot to mention was when Miss Mildred wanted to go out I had to carry her downstairs so she would not wee on the floor as everyone knows when a puppy wakes up in my experience they will need to wee so I wouldn't let her touch the floor just in case she might wee. I believe it was just a habit she had formed. So now when we get ready for bed our beautiful sweet little furbabys jump into their own beds and wait for us to tuck them in and it's much better as we are all getting a better sleep and it's has helped the furbabys remember that they are dog are are lower in the pack then us. Because dog are really good at training their humans to do what they want us to do. So Miss Mildred and Sir George are happier and more content with the control shift dig like to know their place in the pack and they like rules and boundaries it makes for a happy home.

So little Miss Mildred has started to become a even better furbaby just by changing a few little things in her day to day life and gee a new more in control puppy I now have. I was so guilty with myself because I was not allowing the furbabys to sleep in our room or should I say our bed but look at the photo above they don't look half mistreated do they hmmm, Nope look very happy and comfortable they are up in the morning at 4.30am as I make Monsterface his breakfast and cuppa tea before he goes to work so then the furbabys come and have a nanna nap with me in the bed (but don't tell Monsterface) After having
Miss Mildred in the bed with me for over a year it was just like putting your baby in to the cot or in to their own bedroom and gee my boys Zachary and Quentin both slept with me until they went into big boy beds at the age of four or so. And it's just a habit I passed on to
Miss Mildred naughtie Miss Squeak! Chihuahuas love to be warm and loved having her smuggling up to me but now I have my Monster to cuddle at night and our furbabys have each other. And I don't have to get up three times a night to sort Miss Mildred out because now if she wants a wee or a drink she can have one yay!

So like I said before today's blog was just a little update on the going on's of the
Monster and Miss Squeak household hope you enjoyed it , and if you have any stories you would like to tell me please do so in the comments below as I would love to read them or if you have a issue you might want me to blog about I would love to know!
